Welcome to Slack! Think of Slack as the ‘hub’ of Generalist World. It’s the place we meet, message, ask questions and share things like relevant resources, personal wins and challenges that we’re facing.
How to use Slack
To keep our Slack space valuable, inclusive, and engaging for everyone, we have a few simple guidelines to follow.

Need to flag something? Let us know!
If you ever see something that feels off, doesn’t fit our etiquette, or could be improved—DM Ece or Milly.
That includes posts from the GW team too! We’re all human, and we’re always open to feedback to make this space better for everyone. 💙

Replies belong in threads.
- Always reply in a thread rather than posting a new message in the channel. This keeps conversations organized and prevents flooding the channel.
- If you’re posting a long message, include a short summary as the main post, then add details in a thread.
Links belong in threads to keep channels clean.
- If you’re sharing a link, post it inside a thread, rather than as a new message.
- This prevents multiple link previews from cluttering the channel and makes conversations easier to follow.
- If you’re starting a new post that includes a link, consider dropping the main message first and then adding the link as a reply in the thread. This keeps the channel readable while still making your link accessible.
What’s said in the community, stays in the community.
- GW Slack is a space built on trust.
- No screenshots or direct quotes should be shared outside of the community without explicit permission from everyone involved.
