We’ve thought long and hard about this one. On the one hand, we;re all for supporting businesses and growth. But on the other-hand, self-promotion and offerings in a community is a very slippery slope. We’ve all been in communities where it just gets really spammy & annoying.

For this to be truly a space that’s delivers value without the fluff, we’ve decided to keep it “sales and promotion free”.

Be Honest, Not Self-Promotional

To keep the quality of our community high, we do not allow unsolicited self-promotion.

Not allowed:

• Promoting your products, services, or offerings without being asked
• Sharing blog posts or content primarily to drive traffic to yourself
• Asking members to like, follow, or boost your social media posts

Allowed:

• Linking to your work in your introduction post — this is a fair and welcome way to share what you’re working on
• Sharing tools or products you genuinely use and find helpful
• Asking for feedback or input on something you’re building (please don’t abuse this)

If you’re unsure whether something counts as self-promotion, ask a community admin before posting.

DM’s to other Generalist World members selling products or services will result in a first-time warning & conversation, and a second time removal.
